Alexi Garneau
Alexi Garneau
Montreal, Québec, Canada
Emerging glass artist Alexi Garneau graduated from the craft program at Espace Verre in 2022. After several years of practice, he has specialized in lampwork glass blowing to create jewelry, functional objects and unique glass pieces. He also explores the field of neon and plasma art to produce sculptural works powered by gas and electricity.
In recognition of his exceptional work, the studio-school Espace Verre has awarded him several grants, including the Faire la différence scholarship, Chalumeau scholarship and the Univerr osbl scholarship. He also received the Summer Classes scholarship from the Corning Museum of Glass for two consecutive years.
Alexi is interested in the relationship between the artist and the material. He wants to highlight the gesture in artistic creation, a gesture too often reduced to the execution of thought. Yet, can the creative gesture be understood without its manual dimension? Can we understand the hand without the artisan or the artist who uses it?
