Angela (Gela) Keating is a Manitoba-born artist currently living and working in British Columbia. She graduated from the Alberta University of the Arts in 2020 with a BFA with Distinction in glassblowing. In 2019, she was awarded the AUArts Pilchuck Glass School Scholarship and attended a course by Joe Grant at Pilchuck and worked as an assistant to Rob Lewis from 2018-2020. Through her work, Keating seeks to elicit emotion and express gratitude for life by translating her interest in the intricacies and phenomena of anatomy, astronomy, and light, through glass and drawing. Keating is fascinated with the technical skill required to blow glass and finds glass to be an effective medium through which to translate her concepts due to its innate fragile yet durable structure.
