Charlynne Lafontaine works and teaches in her studio, creating sculptures of flameworked glass and cast glass that explore the intersections of art and science.

Her work has been featured in publications and in the news. In partnerships, Lafontaine has carried out two public art commissions and was herself shortlisted for another. Lafontaine has participated in numerous exhibitions and her pieces are part of private collections in Canada and the United States. Some works have been modeled in fashion shows at the Glass Art Society conferences at the Corning Museum of Glass and in Murano, Italy. She received a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts (CCA) to subsidize her trip to Italy. In 2021, she received a CCA Research and Creation grant for her project “Living in a Culture of Appearance”. The City of Ottawa purchased her pieces “Hairbrush” (2019) and “Microbiome” (2023) for their permanent collection. Since 2015, Lafontaine has been the director of Loretta Studios and Gallery.
