I always wanted to be a mad scientist when I grew up, though I never did end up getting around to doing that PhD.
I merge classical lampworked forms with my own particular flavour of pop-surreal, “B Horror” aesthetic in order to create grotesque caricatures of everyday objects. Objects that, despite their inherent unpleasantness and organically repulsive depictions, are ultimately incredibly rewarding to touch. When we find ourselves confronted by the mystery & melancholy of things unknown, will we embrace the unfamiliar with open arms? Or will we remain in our ignorant bliss? I think I’ll always find the former to be the more enthralling option. Through my work with glass, I hope to force that confrontation and inspire a captivation with the unknown, the surreal, and the beautifully grotesque.
