For me, art is particularly therapeutic. I found my love for ceramics while recovering from multiple concussions I sustained from playing hockey. The ability to work with my hands allows me to express myself and gives me an activity that does not induce a headache and allows a moment of control. I stumbled across glass working while filling up my electives after transferring to Alberta University of the Arts from Selkirk College in Nelson, BC. In hopes of finding some relatable information and connectivity to my ceramic practice, instead I was instantly attracted to the material and the community that surrounds glassblowing. Now I enjoy creating in both glass and clay, both separately and in collaboration when possible. I enjoy creating pieces that are unique and functional as I believe handmade objects create moments of joy into experiences that may otherwise be mundane.
