Carleton Place, CA-ON, Canada
Su McManus has produced glass art since the late 70's. She explored life drawing and printmaking at the Ottawa school of art, sculpture and painting at York University, and photography at Ryerson then found glass. In the early 80's she studied at Pilchuck under Albinas Elskus and Paul Marioni where her vision of glass expanded exponentially. This experience forever colored the lens with which she viewed glass.
Her process involves breaking down techniques and using them to marry extreme detail in abstracted design to the point of simplification. Her drive to discover the potential of glass has led to countless courses in a broad variety of glass disciplines, frequently at Corning, classes in lost wax casting; fusing and frit work; flameworking; pate de verre; and engraving.
Since the emergence of on-line courses, Su has been fully immersed in glass under the tutelage of world renowned glass artists.
