My fascination with glass began at age 7 or 8, watching my Great Grandmother & Great Aunts toil away in the stained glass studio of our family's cabin in northern Arizona. I recall sneaking into the studio, thumbing through sheets of richly patterned glass, cataloging in my mind materials I wanted to use someday when I was big enough to handle such tools. I can picture sifting through the myriad of scrap pieces held in mason jars & coffee cans, all waiting their turn to be plucked for that perfect future purpose, squirreling away my favorite bits.

As a teen, I was excited to see my mother bring home a giant kiln to pursue a hobby in fused glass. Once again I found myself enamored with the possibilities that glass provided for both aesthetics & function.

As an emerging blown glass artist, I hope to continue my family's legacy in glass in my own style. I consider myself the luckiest person in the world to work under Luann Baker-Johnson at Lumel Studios in the Great North.
