The Glass Art Association of Canada (GAAC) conference is a gathering of GAAC members featuring many demonstrations of work with hot and cold glass, artist talks, social events, and art exhibitions. The goal of this conference is to bring together our members from across Canada to network, share knowledge and educate the public on the topic of glass art and craft. Our host is Lumel Studios (Lumel), with other activities happening at the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Center through a location agreement with the promoter (GAAC). The Promoter’s representatives include it’s Board of Directors and volunteers organising and/or present at the conference. This legal document binds you, the attendee, to the promoter by registering to and entering the GAAC 2025 conference event premises. Attendees give their permission to be photographed and recorded by official photographers, videographers, and attending media. Attendees consent to their images and video being reproduced for subsequent use in the media, webcasts, internal, and external promotional purposes, advertising and inclusion on websites and social media. Images published by the GAAC Conference are shared publicly with open access for use.
Displaying your work at Kwanlin Dun and participating in any activities related to the GAAC Conference 2025, held at Lumel Studio and Kwanlin Dun, carries certain inherent risks. Accordingly, by accepting this document you are agreeing to certain conditions, including a limited right to sue Lumel and Kwanlin Dun (as you are made aware of the risks below), and you assume certain risks of liability in exchange for the right to participate in the GAAC Conference 2025 at Lumel and Kwanlin Dun. Please read carefully.
The Glass Art Association of Canada respectfully acknowledges these events are living and working within the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council.
I agree to display my work at the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Center and I agree that if it is lost, damaged, or stolen while in the possession of GAAC, Lumel Studios or Kwanlin Dun, I will not hold GAAC, Lumel Studios or Kwanlin Dun responsible in any way. I further agree that I am solely and fully responsible for the work and that Lumel Studios or Kwanlin Dun, including its Board of Governors, directors, officers, employees and agents will not provide me with any monetary or other compensation in the event the work is lost, damaged, or stolen. I understand I may insure my work on my own.
I acknowledge that certain risks of injury are inherent in participation in a GAAC, Lumel Studio or Kwanlin Dun events, excursion or trip and I fully assume all risks related to GAAC attendance. Such risks may include but are not limited to personal injury, the hazards of travelling, accidents or illness, natural disasters and wildlife encounters.
I warrant being physically fit to participate and I represent that I understand that the choice to participate brings with it the assumption of those risks and results, which are part of these activities. I release and hold harmless GAAC, Lumel Studio or Kwanlin Dun and its Board of Governors, directors, representatives, advisors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability for any injury, loss, damages, indemnity, costs, interest of every nature and kind whatsoever and howsoever which I or my next of kin have had, may now have, or may hereafter have, in any way arising from or in connection to my participation in a GAAC, Lumel Studio or Kwanlin Dun event, excursion or trip.
I assume full liability for any expenses I incur or cause Lumel Studio, Kwanlin Dun or GAAC to incur, including but not limited to expenses incurred as a result of damage to property or violation of the policies of any associated entities in connection with any event, excursion or trip.
I understand that Lumel Studios are highly specialized work/study areas that involve the use of numerous hazardous materials, processes and equipment for the production of hot glass making and cold glass sculpting and engraving. Attendees are not allowed to use, tamper with or touch any piece of equipment without the express consent of a representative of the host or the promoter. I acknowledge that certain risks of injury are inherent in work in the studios and use of the equipment and by partaking in any workshop I fully assume such risks. I agree not to use equipment that I have not been trained and tested on, and I warrant being physically able to participate in studio work and understand that the choice to participate brings with it the assumption of those risks and results, which are part of these activities.
I declare to have read and understood the above waiver and release agreement in its entirety and hereby consent to all of the foregoing.
