A Sliver of the Moon

Natali Rodrigues

Natali Rodrigues' exhibition, *A Sliver of Moon and a Branch of Flowering Plum*, offers a contemplative response to the turbulence of modern life. In a world where existence oscillates between stillness and chaos-where we are propelled by a ceaseless, restless energy and beset by complaint, anger, and disappointment-Rodrigues invites us to pause. Her work becomes an antidote to the noise and alienation of daily life, evoking moments of quietude, beauty, and reflection. Through delicate imagery and poetic symbolism, the exhibition encourages viewers to seek solace and meaning in fleeting moments of grace, suggesting that art can be a refuge and a gentle counterpoint to the relentless motion of the everyday.

Artist Bio: Natali Rodrigues is an Associate Professor in the Glass Program at the Alberta University of the Arts in Canada. She believes strongly in community and serves as co-chair of the Alberta craft Council and the Glass Art Society president. Her research investigates the experience of liminal space and transformative experience, which finds voice through two distinct making practices: drawing and glass. Her working methodology moves between a meditative making practice and one that is profoundly physical. Her work is an attempt to create a system of cartography of liminal space, where what is marked is not in reference to the physical but rather the transformative.
