Aves Apoxie Sculpt applications in glass: an efficient and less expensive alternative to lead and solder

Laura Canterbury

Laura Canterbury will demo how to use a small, upcycled picture frame, art glass, Aves Apoxie Sculpt, and a few other minimal supplies to create a beautiful stained-glass window in just 1 hour! During this demonstration, you will learn an easy process to work with Apoxie clay, its unique properties, and how it can be harnessed to create beautiful, artistic effects. Audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions as she goes through the step-by-step process, which includes preparing the glass composition, mixing and applying the clay, adding colour and texture, and cleaning the finished piece.

Artist Bio: Laura Canterbury has created art for over 35 years, with five years in glass. Beginning with traditional stained glass and glass painting under Williams & Bryne in England. Followed by painterly methods established by Narcissus Quagliata. She also studied under Narcissus for two years, graduating from his 6-part language of glass series. Exploring femininity is her primary focus, and Gustav Klimt is of notable artistic influence. She finds the female form surrounded by irregular patterns, often inspired by nature, to be the most alluring. Interested in material science and open to experimentation, she has successfully incorporated Aves Apoxie Sculpt into various glass projects.
