Fluxus Forms

Jay MacDonell

Forms combined and dictated by a series of steps.

In Fluxus Forms, form emerges through a sequence of dictated steps. Jay demonstrates a sculptural approach to glassblowing where intuition meets method. Drawing from his multifaceted practice and role at Bocci, he explores transformation through repetition, variation, and flux. Witness glass as process, not just a product.

Artist Bio: Jay divides himself between three rhizomic fields; working for various artists, designers and architects as a project manager, design consultant and gaffer, maintaining an artistic/social practice and as Director of Material Exploration and Development at Bocci, a design and architecture firm based in Vancouver, Milan and Berlin. He works as collaborator to Omer Arbel, coordinating and experimenting at Bocci’s Vancouver creative crucible. He has taught at Pilchuck Glass School, Urban Glass NY, Pittsburgh Glass School, Espace Verre in Montreal and the Royal Copenhagen School of Art and Architecture on the island of Bornholm, Denmark.
