Les deux faces d’une médaille

Susan Edgerley, Donald Robertson

Biographie: Susan Edgerley is renowned for her unique and poetic approach to glass. Since 1984, she has been creating large-scale glass and mixed media works which have been widely exhibited in North America, Europe, Hong Kong and South Korea. She has been involved with Espace VERRE since 1988, as a teacher (1988-2006), a pedagogical director (1989-90) and board member. In 1992-93, she founded FUSION, a professional hot glass studio for graduates, still active today. In 2019, she was honoured to receive the GGArts Saidye Bronfman Award, for excellence in fine craft.

Donald Robertson is distinguished for his use of lost wax casting and pâte de verre techniques. His studio practice combines both these techniques with other glassmaking methods to create sculptures that reference nature, history and mythology, exploring the links between the material and the contemporary ethos. His work is included in several important public and private collections in Canada, US and Europe. He is a principal teacher at Espace VERRE, where he has taught since 1989. His commitment to transmitting his knowledge to the next generation of glass artists has made him a cornerstone in the ongoing development of studio glass in Quebec.
